Waffle Cone ice cream is Five Point’s newest sweet spot, a nostalgic ice cream experience offering premium sundaes and shakes. I had the chance to swing by during a hot day and was in for a cool treat. Pun intended. Keep reading to get the scoop on this sweet treat destination and all the delish options you should try.
Making Riverside a Little Sweeter.
Waffle Cone is located at 822 Post St in the neighborhood of Riverside Five Points. They are open daily from 12:00pm – 9:30pm. It is owned and operated by Cassidy & Seth Darmata Jacksonville locals, who call Historic Riverside home. They’ve always loved Riverside and dreamed of being able to impact the community in a positive way. Thus the idea of Waffle Come came about. Truly making riverside even sweeter.
Inside Waffle Cone.
Waffle Cone’s interior is simply adorable. It hosts baby soft pink everywhere, white tables and chairs, and gold accents. It gives old time ice cream parlor but modern. That’s the point to be made. There’s a cute photo op on the wall that says ‘Love at First Lick’ and boy oh boy this statement could never be more true. My favorite part are the black and white shots of nostalgic images of people enjoying ice cream.
The samples are endless and the flavors are massive, we are talking over 30 flavors. Aside from hard serve scooped ice cream they also offer soft serve. The BEST part though is the consideration for people with alternate diets offering dairy, gluten, and sugar free options. With all this being said, what are the best flavors? With so many flavors to choose from I had to sample more than a few bites to make up my mind what scoop I would go with. Here are flavors I highly recommend.

- Captain’s Butterscotch
Of course it isn’t called ‘Waffle Cone’ for no reason; you have the option of enjoying your scoop(sss) in a dipped waffle cone, regular waffle cone, cake wafer cone, or simply in a cup.
After hard deliberation, I ended up getting a waffle cone with red velvet and captain’s butterscotch. You guys, I’ve had good ice cream but the creaminess and flavor of Waffle Cone is next level. It was so good I craved it the next day. You can really get in trouble with places like this around. But in the same respect, there’s always room for ice cream. If you’re looking for a sweet treat I highly recommend giving this spot a try!
