If you’re tired of the same ole’ dinner and a movie date, give Wick Candle Bar a try. Wick is the cutest unique candle pouring spot located in the San Marco neighborhood in Jax.

I recently had the pleasure of going with a friend, you already know i’m going to give you the tea on what’s what. To find out what Wick Candle Bar is all about, pricing, and what to expect during your candle pouring date… keep reading.
Inside Wick Candle Bar
Wick is located at 1641 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. It is a candle pouring bar. However, the ‘making’ doesn’t stop at candles. You have the option of making a room spray, diffuser, and even lotions. If essential oils can go into it, you can create it. Here, you are the ruler of your destiny, you create your own custom scented candle with 90+ fragrances. Of course if you aren’t into making candles, you can pop in and shop for single scent candles that are pre made.

Inside is modern but cozy inviting. There are a few tables at the center, and there is a bar around the wax making station where your ‘candle tenders’ hang out and assist. Let me just note the customer service is A-1 here. The crew is personable, very educated on mixing scents, and patient. I’ll explain the patient part shortly. More of what to expect the day you visit is just ahead, keep scrolling.
What To Expect
Your candle pouring experience is a process that has a few steps. Expect to be at Wick Candle Bar for no less than an hour.
Step 1
Upon arrival you are given a scent card and you immediately start choosing your desired smell. You go to the candle shelf and start smelling pre made single scents and write down the ones you enjoy the most. From here you pick out your container. Please note they are always running specials. Such as buy 2 get 1 free or a percentage off. However, each container ranges from $18-40.00. The average container is about $25.00.
Step 2
You meet with a candle tender and they decide which scents you like work best together. On the board are scents that each tender has made up. I actually started with these even though my list was full. I will admit this process can be overwhelming (in a good way) especially if you don’t know what scent you’re going for.

Remember I talked about the crew having patience? This is the step I was referring to lol. They kindly bring your scent requests over and completely hands on assist with this step… you are literally putting a bottle to your nose and sniffing it (through the nozzle’s air hole) lol. All in the name of finding your perfect scent. I ended up going with a created scent ‘3 Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ a unique mix of leather, rose, and teakwood.
Step 3
You create a custom label. This is later placed at the bottom of your container. From there you pour your essential oils into your container of choice. For candles in particular, your container is brought to you 170 degree wax melted, you stir your oil combo into it and stir. The candle tender is with you the entire time for this process. From there, you allow 90 mins for your candle to cure and you’re done! If you can’t wait you can return the next day to collect your masterpiece. Congrats, you own a self made custom candle.
Wrapping Things Up: Wick Candle Bar
Wick gets pretty busy especially on Friday and Saturday’s. Although a reservation is not required I would recommend having one. Just to secure a spot whereas space is limited. This is the perfect date option wether it be girls night or time with your guy. It’s unique and calming. It also gives you and said partner time to interact without interruption. Even if you take yourself, I highly recommend giving Wick a try.
If you want to host a unique party, they host private parties. For more info, you can visit them online. They are closed on Mondays but open Tue – Sat 11AM – 7PM Sundays 11AM – 5PM.
Give this spot a try. Let me know when you do!
Want to continue your date from here? I highly recommend you try 1937 Spirits and Eatery just around the corner. Read my article on it.
