I can’t express how excited I am to see new foodie spots popping up in Jax, which brings us to the city’s newest hip spot 1937 Spirits and Eatery. Whether stopping in for a quick bite, lingering at the bar, having a date night or catching the game, this is the spot for you.

I popped in on a solo date and was truly delighted. Keep reading for all the tea on this spot and one thing I wish they would change.
Inside 1937 Spirits and Eatery
1937 Spirits and Eatery is located in the San Marco Neighborhood at 1842 Kings Ave. It resides in an open loft style building and the decor is gorgeous and hip.

The “Backyard” is a patio from heaven complete with jumbo Jenga and tic tac toe. Inside, there’s a photo booth, a cute touch for souvenir purposes.

1937 offers a variety of flavorful entrees, burgers, and a massive selection of crafted cocktails. The menu is fairly priced, nothing is over $25.00.
What I Ate at During My Visit

- Fried Green Tomatoes (8.5 out of 10)
- Unicorn Fish (9 out of 10)
- Kale (9 out of 10)
- Honey Creole Corn (10 out of 10)
For cocktails I went with the Oaxacan On A Dream it was a smokey but tangy mix. Very unique and different but good. And my absolutely favorite of my choices was the Pica Fresca solely because I am a fan of spicy and chili drinks.

The one thing I was not a fan of was hands down the portion size of the food. Initially I did the entree which came with two sides, needless to say I was still hungry and ordered the fried green tomatoes after all. Given the price the portions make sense but just keep that in mind should you visit. Overall I would highly recommend trying 1937 Spirit and Eatery. The vibe is there and it sets the tone for a nice gather spot or in my case spending time alone.
When you go, let me know what you think. If you’re looking for a bomb dessert after your dinner, give Waffle Cone in Riverside a Try.
