Today’s foodie visit Winter Park Biscuit Company. Even though it’s name hosts ‘biscuit’, its actually way more. I mean yes, they serve biscuits let’s be clear. However, they specialize in chicken.. chicken sandwiches, strips of chicken, and chicken nuggets. Get this… the entire establishment is 100% plant based.
You read correctly, everything in this joint is vegan and you wouldn’t know if no one told you. Yeah… it’s THAT good. Located in Orlando, Fl in the front of the East End Market, I had the pleasure of randomly visiting this location. It was unbelievably too good not to share. Keep reading to find out about Winter Park Biscuit Company, what I ordered, and why I’m now claiming them to serve the best vegan chicken sandwich i’ve ever bitten into.
I’m Not Vegan, Why Was I There In The First Place??
Before I start this article I want to make it clear I am not vegan. However, I am a true foodie. I’m open to eating whatever diet especially if the food is good. Vegan food is a plus because it’s actually plant based and ‘healthier’ in some cases.
Plus, I want to give my audience a variety of food choices. The blog is ‘Eating Bougie’ after all. I eat and review for all. So to all my vegan baddies out there, we’ve got you covered! Now that we got that established, let’s get to how I ended up here…
Long story short I was in Orlando for about 8 hours to spend time with a favorite cousin who was in town for the weekend. Orlando is relatively close to Jacksonville, so me driving down to spend a few hours with her was a no brainer.
This said cousin is highly sensitive to dairy products and some meats, so vegan options suit her best. She was craving some fresh food AND something vegan. Needless to say we went to 2 places during my visit lol. Another longer story short, Winter Park Biscuit Company was highly recommended and said to have ‘the best vegan chicken sandwich around’.
I had to see what the deal was with this place.
Experiencing Winter Park Biscuit Company
Winter Park Biscuit Company is a fast casual restaurant located at 3201 Corrine Dr. Orlando, Fl 32803 inside of the East End Market dead smack in front. It sits on the left side in it’s own cozy space. You order at the front and walk to the end of the bar style counter to pick up your order. Should you choose to dine in you can flop down in a stool at the same counter.
Before we ordered, the cashier let us know they were 100% plant based. Babes, we are fully aware and ready lol. Truthfully, we wouldn’t have known the difference lol.
Even though the company’s name emphasizes ‘biscuit’ the real star is the Chik. The menu options are strips, buffalo’d sub, salads, and the chik sandwich that folks are raving about.
Aside from these options, they also have the impossible burger and a chopped cheese (Philly steak) sandwich. So it’s safe to say Winter Park Biscuit company is a chicken and biscuit joint, but vegan.
What I Ordered
I will be honest, a biscuit was not in my future the night I visited the Winter Park Biscuit Company, so I cannot attest to what the biscuits are like. However, I went with the Chik sandwich with a side of small fries and a sprite. With the sandwich I was given a choice of a sauce that included cheese, spicy mayo, truffle butter, and dill ranch just to name a few. I chose the spicy mayo. Again, everything is plant based.
Chick Sandwich
The sandwich is composed of a crispy chik cutlet with lettuce, tomato, pickles & mayo on a toasted Brioche Bun. When it came out it looked no different then your average chicken breast sandwich from any chicken joint. At first glance, I could tell it was fried to perfection as it was golden brown with all the visual crispiness it was supposed to have.
It was love at first bite. Literally. It was overall the initial crunch and perfection of flavor for me. The vegan brioche and mayo mixed with the acidity of the pickle made this sandwich a perfect combo.
For you meat eaters considering this place, its not ‘chicken’ so don’t expect the stringy effect you get when tearing into a chicken breast. However, the flavor, crispiness, and overall texture was good enough to make me NEVER desire a Popeyes chicken sandwich again. It’s actually unbelievable this sandwich was that damn good.
After the initial shock of pure bliss I added a dollop of the spicy mayo and lord have mercy. It made the sandwich even better.
French Fries
Just like the sandwich the fries were fried to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Dipped in the spicy mayo sauce elevated the experience.
Wrapping Things Up: Winter Park Biscuit Company.
Winter Park Biscuit Company is unbelievable delish and yeah, vegan. I highly recommend trying this spot. I am going to give this a 10 out of 10. This is saying a lot coming from a person whom chicken has a chokehold on. Whether you live a plant based life or not, it’s just too good not to give a try. If you’re in the Orlando, fl area make this a stop on your foodie list.
