Seriously, I’ve been to this location twice and both times have been nothing less than an pleasurable experience. I have been able to come up with the best options if you’re considering eating here. Keep reading, I’ve got a full blown guide of what to eat when visiting O-ku Sushi.
Even If You’re Not A Sushi Lover, You’re Going To Wanna Step Inside
In fact, when eating at O-ku you have the option to dine inside at there clean and modern space, or eat on the rooftop with the beach breeze and vibes. The design of this restaurant is simply beautiful. It gives date night or sexy girl night out vibes. Enough of the space, let’s get into the food.
Start With A Cocktail
O-ku sushi offers a full bar with specialty crafted cocktails, I haven’t explored many of the cocktails, but these are a sure fire way to wet your whistle.
Sugar and Spice
vodka or tequila, passion fruit, habanero syrup, lemon. I went with the tequila option, sweet with a little bitter from the lemon. I had more than a few of these my first visit.
Must Try Food At O-Ku Sushi
Aside from the amazing rolls, O-ku Sushi offers a huge selection of dishes for the anti-sushi diners. Let’s start here. Because granted sometimes you want a meal to go with your sushi roll. Here are my top recommended options of entrees, specialty plates, and appetizers.
Braised Short Rib
Served with brussel sprouts, roasted red peppers, pumpkin spice kabocha squash. Not only is this cut of meat fall off the fork tender it’s seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Teriyaki Chicken Donburi
house made teriyaki, rice, seasonal vegetables. This bowl is fresh and even the pickiest of eaters can enjoy this.
O-Ku Rock Shrimp
crispy fried shrimp, spicy aioli, mixed greens. This is there version of ‘bang bang’ shrimp. The sweet spicy glaze is delish
Black Magic
squid ink rice, fried lobster, crispy shallots, spicy aioli, chives. This is for the person who wants to try sushi but is afraid. It’s rice packed into sushi form and topped with delicious fried lobster. Don’t let the black rice scare you off. This is one of my faves it’s simply delectable.
They also serve a Wagyu self cool style. It’s 30.00 per oz with a 2 ounce minimum. You must be sitting indoors to indulge in this dish. I have not personally tried it, yet. However, It’s all the rage. Should you try it before me, let me know the results!
O-Ku Sushi You’ve Got To Try
I’ve only been twice so I have not been able to full-on indulge in the every sushi roll. However, these selections are sure to set you straight.

Blazing Saddles
seared CAB beef, tempura shrimp, avocado, cilantro aioli, eel sauce, crispy onions. Can we say DELISH. Ah! The seared beef on top mixed with the shrimp gives the ultimate surf and turf in one roll.
Oceanside
spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, togarashi, seared salmon, cilantro aioli, negi. Another fave roll. The salmon is lightly cooked, if you’re not into raw sushi I would steer away from this. However, if you’re wanting to explore this roll is phenomenal.
Firecracker
Crispy fried roll with spicy salmon, avocado, asparagus, goat cheese, togarashi aioli. This is their version of a dynamite roll. You seriously can’t go wrong here.
And Then There Was Dessert
Sata Andagi
Okinawan-style ube donut holes, sesame peanut sugar, toasted sesame, crushed peanuts, & miso glaze. This is a dish I just can’t explain. But light airy donuts with a mind blowing flavor pallet. You would have to try this one to understand.
Wrapping Things Up: O-Ku Sushi
When it comes to one of the most hippest asian cuisine spots in town. O-ku gets my vote. If this were a love story, this would end happily.
Wether it be a special occasion or treating yourself to a fancy pants dinner. I highly recommend you check out this spot. If you’re not in the Jacksonville area they have locations in Atlanta, all over North Carolina, Nashville, and Washington D.C. The menus vary based on destination. Visit them online to find a O-Ku closet to you. (Hey, that rhymes lol)
