Can we talk about jorts for a second?
If you’ve been anywhere near the fashion side of the internet lately, you’ve probably seen them. Long, baggy denim shorts that hit around the knee, oversized silhouettes that give a little streetwear energy, and enough denim to make you wonder whether somebody accidentally cut a pair of jeans at the wrong spot.

And if you’re sitting there wondering what in the world a jort is, don’t worry, gworl. I’ve got you.
Jorts are essentially jean shorts, a combination of the words jeans and shorts. While the term can describe denim shorts in general, the styles we’re talking about today are the longer, relaxed-fitting versions that have become a favorite in contemporary streetwear and casual fashion.
Now, here’s where things get interesting.
Just because the temperatures start dropping and fall fashion starts creeping into our feeds doesn’t mean every pair of shorts has to be packed away until next summer. With the right styling, those long denim shorts can have a place in your fall wardrobe, too.
And you already know how we do things around here. We’re not interested in buying an entirely new wardrobe every time the seasons change. We’re interested in making our clothes work harder, getting creative with what we already own, and figuring out how to make personal style feel like, well, our own.
So, let’s talk about how to style jorts for fall and make one pair work across different outfits, occasions, and moods.

Why Do Jorts Even Deserve a Place in Your Fall Wardrobe??
One of my favorite things about fashion is that a piece doesn’t have to be worn the way you first imagined it. Sometimes, all it takes is switching up the proportions, adding a different layer, or pairing something familiar with a piece you wouldn’t normally consider.
That’s part of the appeal of jorts.
Their relaxed silhouette gives you room to experiment. Depending on how you style them, they can feel laid-back and streetwear-inspired, a little more polished, or like the kind of everyday outfit you throw on without giving it too much thought. The denim also makes them easy to work with because chances are, you already have a few things in your closet that will pair well with them.
Think oversized jackets, button-down shirts, lightweight knits, graphic tees, sneakers, loafers, boots, and your favorite accessories.
The Best part? This piece is 100% transitional from season to season. No need to run out and buy new pieces when you already have what you need right at home. In fact, you don’t need to start from scratch. You just need to start looking at your closet a little differently.
Meet the Jorts: My New Bershka Pickup
For today’s styling session, we’re working with a new pickup from Bershka: the Slouchy Denim Bermuda Shorts.
Now, let me tell you why I was so excited about these.
I’ve been looking for a pair of jorts with that longer, relaxed, almost barrel-leg-inspired silhouette, and these are pretty darn close to what I’ve had in mind. The length is what really sold me. I wanted something with a little more coverage that still gave me that oversized, streetwear-inspired look without feeling like I was swimming in denim.
One thing to know about these shorts is that they have no stretch. I typically wear a size 6, but I decided to size up to an 8 to get that extra room and relaxed fit I was looking for. And gworl, I’m so happy I did!
Sizing up gave me the slouchier silhouette I wanted, and the longer length makes these shorts feel like a great alternative to the shorter denim styles I usually see.
Now, am I saying you need to run out and buy these exact shorts? Absolutely not. The goal is to show you how to style jorts for fall, not convince you that you need another item in your cart. But if you’ve also been searching for a longer, relaxed-fit pair, these are definitely worth a look.

With our denim selected, let’s get into the fun part: finding different ways to style one pair of jorts and make them work for fall.
Look 1: The Canadian Tuxedo, Fall Edition
If you’ve been following me, then some of these pieces should already look familiar. Earlier this year, I shared a list of wardrobe essentials or basics every closet should have, and we’re putting a few of those pieces to work today.
Because remember, gworl, the goal is to maximize what you already own. So please don’t tell me you can’t recreate these looks. Yes. You. Can.
For our first look, we’re playing around with a little Canadian tuxedo moment by pairing our slouchy denim Bermuda shorts with an oversized white poplin button-down and an oversized denim jacket.

Jorts || Button Down (similar) || Boots || Bag (similar) || Jacket || Sunglasses (similar)
Let’s break it down using our simple three-step styling recipe.
Step 1: Start with a statement piece.
In this case, our jorts are doing the heavy lifting. The longer, relaxed silhouette gives us that streetwear-inspired foundation and sets the tone for the rest of the outfit.
Step 2: Bring in your basics
Remember that oversized white button-down we talked about? Pull it out! We’re pairing it with an oversized denim jacket to create that Canadian tuxedo effect. Mixing denim with denim gives the outfit a cohesive feel, while the white poplin shirt breaks things up and adds a little contrast.
Step 3: Add your personal style twist
Here’s where we make the outfit our own. I’m finishing the look with snakeskin boots and an off-white mini hobo bag. The boots introduce a fun print and give the outfit a little edge, while the lighter bag adds contrast without competing with the rest of the look.
And voilà! We’ve taken a pair of denim shorts that might typically live in our summer wardrobe and styled them into an effortless fall outfit that’s comfortable, relaxed, and still gives a little fashion moment.
The best part? We’re not reinventing our closet to do it. We’re taking the basics we already have and finding new ways to wear them.
Shopping List
- Oversized white poplin button-down
- Long denim jorts
- Oversized denim jacket
- Statement boots of your choice
- Bag of your choice
Don’t have snakeskin boots? No problem. Try a pair of black boots, loafers, or whatever statement footwear you already own. The point is to use the formula as a starting place, then make it your own.
That’s how we make our wardrobes work harder without making our shopping carts work overtime.
Look 2: Sporty, Chic & a Little Print Play
Who says you can’t mix a little sporty style with a little fashion-gworl energy? For this look, we’re pairing our jorts with a rugby polo shirt, cow-print slingback heels, a baseball cap, and a black mini top-handle bag. And gworl, the result is such a fun combination!
The first thing we’re doing is tucking in the rugby polo and pushing up the sleeves. It’s a small styling adjustment, but it helps give the outfit a little more shape while keeping that relaxed, effortless feel we love.
Now, let’s talk about the prints. The cow-print slingbacks add a playful statement to the outfit, giving us a little print mixing without making the look feel overworked. The baseball cap leans into the sporty aesthetic, while the black mini top-handle bag brings in a more structured, polished element.

It’s that combination of casual and chic that makes this outfit work
We’ve got the relaxed denim, the sporty polo, a fun animal print, and accessories that pull everything together without taking away from the individual pieces.
And let’s not forget our original assignment: making jorts work for fall! Pairing them with a rugby polo gives us a little more coverage up top, making this a great option for those transitional days when it’s not quite cold enough to commit to a full fall wardrobe but you’re ready to switch things up from your usual summer outfits.
Best of all, we’re still working with pieces we can pull from our existing wardrobes, with the option to introduce a new piece when it makes sense. Literally. You don’t need to recreate every detail of this outfit to get the same effect. Play with the sporty pieces you already own, find an animal print you love, and see where your creativity takes you.

- Rugby polo shirt
- Animal-print heels
- Baseball cap
- Mini top-handle bag

Look 3: Oversized Everything, With a Pop of Burgundy
Okay, so we’re going back into the closet and pulling out another one of my KBB by Kahlana pieces. This time, it’s the oversized grey and navy rugby sweater, and gworl, I am OBSESSED with how it looks paired with these baggy jorts!
I don’t know if it’s age catching up with me or what, but lately I’ve been gravitating toward looser, more relaxed silhouettes. I want to be comfortable, but I still want to look like I put some thought into getting dressed. Is that too much to ask?
And that’s exactly what I love about this combination. The oversized fit of the sweater works so well with the longer, slouchy silhouette of the denim shorts. We’re not trying to balance everything out with a fitted piece this time. We’re embracing the volume, and I’m here for it.
Now, let’s get into the accessories because this is where the outfit REALLY comes together.

Jorts || Sweater || Bag (similar) || Boots
I added a pair of burgundy crocodile-effect bunched boots that I snagged from TikTok Shop, and when I tell you these boots are SO, SO, SO good?! They deserve their own moment. I finished things off with a matching burgundy bag to tie everything together.
The grey and navy tones in the sweater create the perfect backdrop for that rich burgundy. It’s a beautiful fall color combination without feeling too predictable, and the textured boots bring in just enough personality to make the whole outfit feel intentional.
Between the oversized sweater, relaxed denim, and statement boots, this look gives us everything I love about fall dressing. It’s comfortable, a little unexpected, and stylish without looking like we’re trying too hard.
And once again, we’re making pieces from our existing wardrobe work with something new…
Because that’s the goal, right? Not necessarily having more clothes, but finding more ways to wear the ones we already have.
Shopping List
- Long denim jorts
- Oversized rugby sweater
- Statement boots of your choice
- Statement bag of your choice
And don’t feel like you have to use burgundy. While I personally love the color combination, you can recreate the same idea with whatever statement boots and bag you already own.
The styling lesson here? Don’t be afraid to play with oversized proportions. Sometimes a relaxed silhouette from head to toe is exactly what makes an outfit feel effortless. And a little pop of color never hurt anybody!
Look 4: A Little Asymmetry, A Lot of Personality
Okay, now we’re getting a little creative because who said we have to wear our clothes exactly the way they were intended?
For this look, we’re taking a transitional piece and giving it another transitional moment. I started with a sheer, light blue cami-style slip dress featuring a beautiful water-inspired print. But instead of wearing it as a dress, I tucked it to one side to create an asymmetrical top.
Yes, gworl. A dress as a top. Because why not?!
That little styling trick completely changes the way the piece looks and gives us an interesting silhouette against the relaxed fit of our jorts. Plus, the softness of the sheer fabric creates a beautiful contrast with the heavier denim.
Next, we’re pulling out another wardrobe essential: the good ol’ oversized black blazer. Not only does it add a little structure to the outfit, but it also gives this summery slip dress a more fall-appropriate feel. It’s one of those pieces that can instantly change the direction of an outfit without requiring much effort.
Now, let’s talk about the finishing touches!
I recently picked up a pair of black Tabi-toe boots from Steve Madden, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring them out. Their split-toe design adds a little unexpected edge, while my oversized furry statement bag introduces texture and a playful element to the look.

Jorts || Blazer (similar) || Dress || Boots || Bag
And just like that,
we’ve created a fall outfit using a summer dress, our trusty oversized blazer, and a few accessories that bring the whole thing together.
What I especially love about this look is that it challenges us to think beyond an item’s original purpose. Just because something is labeled a dress doesn’t mean it can’t be styled as a top. Sometimes the best outfits come from experimenting with the pieces we already own.
Shopping List
- Long denim jorts
- Cami-style slip dress
- Oversized blazer
- Boots of your choice
- Statement bag of your choice
Don’t have Tabi boots or a furry bag? That’s perfectly fine. Your favorite black boots and a bag with a little personality can create the same effect.
The styling lesson? Before you decide you need something new, try wearing something you already own in a completely different way. A little creativity can open up a whole new set of outfit possibilities. Here are a few other ways you can wear a dress.
Look 5: Biker Babe, But Make It Fashion
Okay, gworl, we’re switching things up with a little biker-babe moment because why not?!
For this look, I wanted to let one piece do most of the talking, so I grabbed this graphic-print moto-style jacket and paired it with our oversized jorts. And honestly, the jacket is doing exactly what it came to do!
To finish things off, I pulled out a SUPER old pair of chunky lug-sole boots, added a furry waist bag, and threw on some red-tinted sunglasses for a little extra personality. Because you know we can’t just leave well enough alone.
What I love about this look is how effortlessly everything comes together. The moto jacket brings that edgy, biker-inspired feel, while the chunky boots add a little weight to balance out the oversized silhouette of the shorts. The furry waist bag gives us some texture, and those red-tinted sunnies? Just a little something to keep things interesting.

And can we appreciate the fact that these boots have been sitting in my closet for YEARS?! A perfect reminder that just because something isn’t new doesn’t mean it can’t create a whole new look.
This is exactly why I encourage you to hold on to pieces you genuinely love and can see yourself wearing again. Sometimes all they need is a different outfit to remind you why you bought them in the first place.
Shopping List
- Long denim jorts
- Graphic-print moto jacket
- Chunky boots
- Statement bag
- Sunglasses of your choice
The styling lesson? Let your statement pieces do their thing! Not every outfit needs a complicated formula. Sometimes a good jacket, your favorite boots, and a few fun accessories are more than enough.
Look 6: A Little Tomboy, A Lot of Chic
You know we couldn’t get through a styling session without throwing in a little fashion hack, right?!
For this look, we’re revisiting a styling trick I’ve shared before, where we took two oversized men’s button-down shirts and transformed them into a skirt. But since we’re dressing for fall, we’re switching things up and using two plaid flannel shirts instead. I literally walked in the thrift store went right to the men’s section and found two coordinating tops. To do this, find two tops that speak to YOU.
I tied the flannels together over our jorts to create a unique, layered skirt effect, and gworl, I LOVE how this turned out! Not only are we playing with proportions, but we’re also adding texture, movement, and a little unexpected personality to an otherwise simple pair of denim shorts.
For the top, I found this cute corset-style hoodie on TikTok Shop and layered it over a basic white tank. I love the contrast between the more structured, waist-defining shape of the hoodie and the relaxed, oversized silhouette we’ve created with the flannels and jorts.
Now let’s talk about accessories…
I grabbed my trusty Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, which is one of those all-around handbags that works with just about everything, and finished the look with a cute pair of tan square-toe boots I found on Amazon.
The combination of plaid flannel, denim, and warm neutral accessories gives us that cozy fall feeling, but the corset-style hoodie and layered skirt hack keep things interesting.

Jorts || Hoodie || Flannel 1 (similar) || Flannel 2 (similar) || Boots || Bag || Hat (similar)
It’s giving a little tomboy, hella chic, and oh-so-cozy for fall!
And the best part? We’re taking pieces that already have a place in our wardrobes and finding an entirely different way to wear them. Those flannel shirts don’t have to be worn as shirts, just like our jorts don’t have to look like jorts in every outfit.
I almost made you forget we were wearing the same pair of shorts, didn’t I?! LOL.
Shopping List
- Corset-style hoodie
- Long denim jorts
- Statement boots of your choice
- Two oversized plaid flannel shirts
- All-around handbag of your choice
The styling lesson? Don’t be afraid to rethink how you wear your clothes. A shirt doesn’t always have to be a shirt, and sometimes layering pieces in unexpected ways can create an entirely new silhouette without requiring an entirely new wardrobe.
Look 7: Cozy, Colorful & Out the Door
Okay, gworl, sometimes we don’t need to do the absolute most. Sometimes a good oversized, fluffy cardigan is all the outfit needs!
For this look, we’re keeping things simple with our trusty jorts and a cozy oversized cardigan from Commense that I’ve been wearing for at least THREE seasons now. And when I tell you this cardigan has earned its place in my closet?! It was so good when I got it that I vowed to keep it around for as long as it holds up. LOL.
Now, because we’re going for that relaxed, effortless vibe, I paired everything with my New Balance 574 YURT sneakers. These have become another fall staple in my wardrobe, and I love how they work with the oversized silhouette of the jorts.

Jorts || Cardigan || Sneakers || Baseball Cap || Bag
Do the sneakers match the cardigan perfectly? Nope. But does it all go together? Absolutely! You feel me?!
And that’s something I want you to remember when you’re getting dressed. Everything doesn’t have to be an exact color match to create a cohesive outfit. Sometimes the colors simply complement one another, and that’s more than enough.
To finish things off, I grabbed my trusty Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, because clearly she’s been putting in WORK throughout this styling session, and threw on a brown LA baseball cap for a little extra personality.
And voilà! We’ve got ourselves a comfortable, colorful fall outfit that’s giving grab a matcha, run a few errands, and mind your business.
Nothing overly complicated. Just a few good pieces that work together and make getting dressed feel easy.
Shopping List
- Oversized cardigan
- Long denim jorts
- Dad sneakers of your choice
- Baseball cap
- All-around handbag of your choice
The styling lesson? Sometimes simple really is enough. Your pieces don’t have to match perfectly, your outfit doesn’t have to be complicated, and you certainly don’t need something new every time you get dressed.
A good cardigan, a comfortable pair of sneakers, and a few favorite accessories can take you a long way.
Final Thoughts: It’s Not About Having More, It’s About Doing More With What You Have
And there you have it, gworl! SEVEN different ways to style ONE pair of jorts for fall. Who knew a pair of oversized denim shorts could have this much range?!
From statement boots and oversized layers to playful prints and styling hacks, I hope these looks inspired you to get a little more creative with what’s already hanging in your closet.
Remember, personal style isn’t about constantly buying something new. It’s about experimenting, having fun, and learning how to make your wardrobe work for YOU.
Because sometimes you don’t need more clothes. You just need a little more imagination.
