Outfit Inspiration
It was day three of a mommy and daughter escapade in Chicago, Illinois. Not coincidentally it was Mother’s Day. Chicago was a personal gift to myself. I chose Chicago for 2 reasons. One I’d never been. Two it was the end of Spring and I knew I could go there to experience cool climate and wear some pieces Id been itching to wear all season.
I’ve said it 1000 times that I live in Florida and cooler days are rarely afforded to me. I literally had a closet of clothes that had been neglected because *begins rant* I buy dope fall clothes as if I live in an area that permits cold weather, knowing that it’s always hot. Whew. Got that little frustration out, lol.
I also know that Chicago has a high dose of fashionable people. To sum it all up, I went out of town to wear clothes. Hence the name of this blog to include “Bougie” aka Bourgeois.
Chicago did not disappoint as it was more than cool enough for me to wear hoodies, layers, and boots. And yes, the fashion was on point. My heart is beating fast just thinking about all the inspiration I got fashion wise that trip.
Anyway, on this day I wanted to have a relaxed day with monumental site seeing. Visiting The Bean in Chicago was a must do on my list for the day.
The Overcoat That Almost Didn’t Happen
My long quilted overcoat was one of the many items I couldn’t wait to wear. Coincidentally, I almost missed out on owing the frock altogether. Truth is, it was on of those pieces that I had in my wish list on H&M and was slightly intimidated because I had never pulled off a look with a coat of such.

Of course, green is my favorite color but I just wasn’t sure what to do with it AND its always hot in Florida. I watched it for weeks as all the sizes sold out. Until one day I said “eff it” and grabbed a size small. Needless to say, it sold out the following week. Talk about a close call.
Obviously, this piece was brought on my trip and the highlight of the ‘outfit of the day’ regarding today’s read.
A Ribbed Midi Dress Will Always Save The Day
When I bought this jacket for some reason I knew I wanted to wear a dress with it. I ordered this midi dress at the same time and it not only paired well with the overcoat, its a phenomenal piece to have as a lady with style. If you don’t own one, change that. It’s a styling lifesaver.
Rick Owens Drkshdw, Another Win For The Day
Believe it or not the Rick Owens DRKSHDW high top sneaker is comfy enough to walk around in for long periods of time. This is coming from a girl with a wide foot. Compared to other designer kicks I own, the comfort level of these are a pleasant surprise. Totally worth the price tag.

These sneakers were made for walking. It just so happens Downtown Chicago requires a lot of it. In fact, a vehicle is redundant. With foot being the vehicle of choice, I knew I needed to wear comfy shoes to make it through the journey of the day. At the same time I wanted to be hip and sexy. With the weather being chilly, layering up on a day in May was not inappropriate.
Accessories, Just A Little ‘Pop’
For my handbag I went with a fave Prada crossbody bucket bag. I love wearing a crossbody especially when traveling and walking because my bag is secure, literally. This nylon garb is one of my favorite go to pieces for chic polish expensive style. Gold accessories and my “it girl” Louis Vuitton LV hoops solidified the execution.

The cow print hat was just to bring a little fun to the look, making this a super easy, chic street style look that would look great on any body type or shape.
As Phoenix and I graced Chicago’s breathtaking downtown we were getting looks. We looked as if we lived in the high fashion conglomerate of runway style mixed with street. We were the “it girls”.

A Brief History Lesson: The Bean. Chicago, Illinois.
Officially named Cloud Gate, this life size work of art stands proudly in Millennial Park in Downtown Chicago. It was design by the internationally famous artist Anish Kapoor. It was unveiled in 2004 and has held its weight as one of Chicago’s most popular sites to see.

Even if you’re not into art, visiting the bean in Chicago is a prodigious thing to do. If you ever hashtag search #TheBean on IG you will find thousands of photos of people taking hip pics and throwing up peace signs in front of this 33 foot high art structure. They get it.
I Get It And Got It
Visiting The Bean in Chicago was what I expected plus some. As expected, there were tons of people standing around in awe of this glorious masterpiece. It’s smooth reflective surface blatantly shows off the Chicago skyscrapers, nature, and spectators. I had to touch it. Without hesitance I whipped out my trusty tripod and started snapping a ton of cools pics of myself and Phoenix, my daughter.

I had to be certain I got.. “the shot” to signify we were there. I love printing out photos from my phone and framing them around the house. These shots will be no different.
