Depending on who’s reading this, it can get a little touchy. Truthfully, this establishment can easily go toe to toe with top Philly Cheesesteak spots, hear me out on this one.

Vegan foodies, you’re definitely going to want to step in my office, this one is for you too. Keep reading to find out how this place can save you money on a ticket to Pennsylvania and all about my experience at this food truck turned brick and mortar. I’m going to give an honest opinion, including one negative thing about my experience.
I Went To Philly In Search Of ‘The Best Cheesesteak’, and Sampled Three Places. The Results Are…
I’m going to cover my head and duck down when I say this because you guys like to tussle.
I’m not going to say which three locations I visited, but one was completely underwhelming, another was just okay, and the third, heavenly. Having these fond memories of my foodie experience from the cheesesteak capital, I know where to go should I return.
Needless to say I haven’t been to Philly in nearly a year and nor had the desire to eat a cheesesteak. Until I stumbled across Eddis and Sons. With the background of me actually going to Philly and indulging in this specialty, I can give an honest opinion of what a cheesesteak could and should be.
From Philly Wit L❤️VE
Let’s go inside Eddis and Sons. A food truck turned brick and mortar destination serving Philly style ribeye, chicken, and vegan cheesesteaks. They also host loaded, cheese, and truffle fries. Eddis and Sons is located at 6426 Bowden Rd #207, Jacksonville, FL 32216 to know it is there, you just have to know, please tell me I’m not the only one who had no idea this place existed.
Walking in, you will find a small walk up style restaurant with a large lobby and a bench or two for waiting customers. There is no inside seating. However, there are outdoor tables in front.
To give you a glimpse of what to expect as far as the food is concerned, there is a tiled “This my Jawn” customer appreciation wall. On the wall are index cards from past customers giving genuine feedback and testimonies about their experience with Eddis and Sons. You can leave one for yourself. On the opposite wall, an open style cooler housing Hanks glass bottle sodas and Joe’s sweet tea.

The large overhead menu is displayed with well planned, non-complicated options. Each item is made to order, please expect a 10-15 minute wait. The overall design of Eddis and Son is a simple and well thought out concept. In fact, you feel as if you have left Jacksonville; and stepped inside of a mom and pop shop in the heart of Philadelphia.
What I Ordered and The Truth About It
I decided to try the star of the show, and went with the classic cheesesteak with provolone cheese. To spruce it up I added mayo, grilled onions and sweet peppers. I chose a side of plain fries sprinkled with old bay seasoning. For a drink I chose the Hank’s ginger beer.

100% Vegan
My cousin was with and does not eat beef or dairy products. She ordered the vegan option. We asked all the questions everyone wants to know. Yes, the bread and cheese is 100% plant based. YES the meat is cooked on a separate grill from the non plant based options.
The Results Are…
This sandwich was GOOOOOOD. Like wow! The bread is perfect sucking up the juices and natural grease from the meat and peppers. The fries were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly.
My cousin’s vegan sandwich produced the same review.
I really don’t have anything else to say, because my mind is blown that this place has been in my backyard this entire time. I was oblivious.
There’s One Negative Thing To Say About This Place…
Although Eddis and Sons is a five star review in my book I have one negative word and advice.
The food is so good, you wont want to stop eating. You will have the itis. Both times i’ve gone I needed a strong nap afterwards lol. I will tell you, if you have something to do in the active category do not.. I repeat do not eat here first. LOL!
