A Matching Set From Target’s Future Collective Collection. Here’s What I Did With It
Matching sets are so fun fashionably for a few reasons. For one they are an easy fix when it comes to choosing an outfit. They are literally ready made outfits. All you have to do is accessorize and go. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been stuck with “what should I wear?” and used my cheat code and grabbed a matching set.
Number two, once separated the set goes from being a dynamic duo to two pieces to be paired with other pieces at any given time. Thus making one set accessible to as many looks as you’d like. It’s the outfit that keeps on giving. Keep reading to find out how I took one matching set and styled it 5 ways.

Reason Number 9,807,403 Why I love Target
As if I needed another reason to love Target over the other guys *coughs* Walmart. They dropped yet another collaboration and brand to add to their catalog featuring high end street wear clothing at bargain prices.
Target x Kahlana Barfield Brown = Future Collective
This time Target teamed up with fashion editor Kahlana Barfield Brown to debut the Future Collective Brand. She is the first partner and to be honest as hot as they came out of the gate, I can’t wait to see what else Target cooks up. The first drop was massive to say the least, it features 41 pieces with different colors and pattern options.
The launch heavily emphasizes on Kahlana’s signature style of streetwear, cool jackets, and femme oversized looks. Although I was a little tardy to the party (things sold out QUICK) I was able to snag a few pieces online.
I am over doing the mad dash to grab fashion, trust me… the Sneakrs app ruined that for me. (😂) So whatever I am meant to have i’m good with it.
Let’s Style A Matching Set and Then Some
Today’s focus the striped knit long sleeve shirt and mini skirt matching set. I dissected it and came up with 5 different looks. If you were fortunate enough to grab this set or it’s letter print counterpart let this serve as a guide to not get bored and switch these pieces up to get more bang for your buck. The set total was just under $50.00, so to be able to wear it multiple ways is a huge score.
Oh Look, 5 Outfits With 1 Matching Set
Again this set was under $50.00 and surprisingly its still available! This is great because if you haven’t had the chance to grab it, nows the time. And you have a few ways to wear it different. YAY!
The Quality Of The Pieces
Like any other target products this shirt and skirt is made well. The materials used to compose the garment is 62% Polyester, 34% Rayon, 4% Spandex. Which makes is stretchy. Keep this in mind when buying.
A Sizing Note About This Set
I would highly recommend sizing up especially the skirt. It’s short short. I purchased a small because these are based on women’s sizing versus juniors. I don’t feel like going through the hassle for returning mine (and I took the tags off lol) so I’m going to stay put. If you want the shirt to fit a little looser I highly recommend going up a size. However, if I were to reorder it i would’ve gotten a medium.
Buy The Matching Set

Look 1: A Varsity Style Jacket and Boots
I had recently purchased these legging style booties from Ego Shoes. I posted them on my Tiktok and it went crazy. They are so hot it made my first ever video go viral! I decided to pair them with the whole set to create a look matching both pieces. To top it off I chose an old varsity style rocker jacket I grabbed from an Alkaline Trio Concert 10 years ago! For a bag I went with a nylon clutch style bag I had laying around from Zara.

Jacket (Concert Memorabilia) Similar // Boots (Ego) Jeffrey Campbell Option Here// Bag (Zara) Similar
Look 2: Bodysuit, Designer Tights, and Platforms
For this look I tried out a favorite pair of statement stockings. I grabbed a satin wrap style bodysuit, mini bag, and platform heels to create the cutest night out look.

Top (Boohoo)// Shoes (Asos) // Bag (Brandon Blackwood) Similar // Stockings (Gucci) Similar and Budget friendly option
Look 3: Jeans, Leather Jacket, and Sneakers
Out of all the looks this is the most easiest to pull off for an everyday look. I took the matching set top and paired it with some lightly faded split hem wide leg jeans. I grabbed a pair of my favorite sneakers and draped a leather jacket over my shoulders. To add a “pop” I threw in a dalmatian print shoulder bag.

Jeans (Pretty Little Thing) // Jacket (Barney’s) // Bag (Brandon Blackwood) Similar // Sneakers (Rick Owens)
Look 4: Denim Top and Booties
Another everyday hip look. I took a denim button down dress and turned it into a wrap shirt and paired it with a pair of Bottega dupe booties. Easy. I wore a large hobo bag to compliment the look making it even more casual. To see how I turned the dress into a wrap shirt be sure to check my Youtube Channel. It’s very easy to do. I learned this tip from a blogger on IG Anissa Deshaun (Thanks baddie).

Denim Dress (H&M) similar // Booties (Simmi London) A cuter option here // Bag (Marc Jacobs) Similar
Look 5: Midi Dress and Thigh High Boots
For this look I recycled a sleeveless midi dress. I turned it into an overall jumper style dress. Next, I paired it with some thigh high boots and statement earrings. To finish this look off, some rounded sunglasses and a bucket bag. Sexy and different look to try. So cute for the fall weather.

Target’s Collective Matching Set Final Thoughts
As you can see styling a matching set multiple ways is fun and fairly simple to do. On another note I am loving the pieces I got which included the slouchy cardigan and the leopard print button down dress. Let me know if you would like to see these styled as well. Which of these looks is your favorite. Which are you trying?
