Ringing In The New Year With A Tulle Skirt

I’m going to cut the chase, most of my NYE look came from Amazon, including this repeat tulle skirt. Making this my last outfit of 2023 and the first of 2024. I’v’e worn this show stopping piece once before and like most things in my closet, forget about it. Don’t we all do this lol. Anyway, let’s talk about how this piece went from the pits of my closet to the main attraction for my ensemble to ring in the new year. You too can easily recreate this look, keep reading.

I Ain’t Even Supposed To Be In Here Tonight

New Year’s Eve was approaching and it wasn’t much of a thought solely because I’m the mom home in a bonnet and robe snuggling with my mini BFF. Until a friend mentioned a NYE party. Sounds nice. I won’t lie I completed hesitated on initially purchasing or figuring out a look, because I wasn’t sold on going. Long story short less than a week prior I pressed go on grabbing a tix. (I promise i’m getting to the outfit deets lol) Per usual, I last minute began to hunt for ‘the look’. Only to order a mermaid sequin skirt ‘express’ the day before Christmas just to get a shipping confirmation the day after Christmas that it wouldn’t arrive the day after the New Year. Great, lol.

I Had To Go To The Archive To Make This Look Work.

Truthfully, I’d ordered another top from Fashion Nova and IYKYK it arrived within days, but it just wasn’t giving. (It will be returned lol). Okay okay, enough rambling. Here’s how I came up with this look and what you will need. My top was originally a thrifted dress, I brought it home solely because I saw the potential in the upper portion of the dress. I later cut the bra part off to use as a top. I remembered this piece and was completely right about it. For less than $3.00 I completely scored here.

The skirt was worn over a year ago to a dinner party completely different. It’s cold outside right now, and me going out with just a bra wasn’t happening. I love black and white ensembles and I needed a jacket, hence I found this jacket on Amazon and it arrived at my doorstep 2 days later and for less than $60. The bag, another amazon find. I love novelty bags, and being that i’m usually sporting a camera this was fitting. I completed with a pair of blingy shoes I’ve had laying around. Since there was so much going on, I kept my jewelry to a minimum to a pair of studs, with a red lip, and black manicure. This outfit turned out to be way more than my initial outfit idea. It was unique, stood out, and I got sooo many compliments.

Here’s What You Need To Do This

A blingy bustier or bra, a dramatic tulle skirt, a crisp blazer, and a fun clutch. Of course you can remix this however you’d like. But these are the pieces used for today.

My cousin recently told me, I’ve been holding back when it comes to showing the world my personal style. And she’s right, I’ve trying to engage a ‘target audience’ and scale back so it can be relatable. However, I’ve never been a person who can be scaled back, so its no sense of doing it now. The target audience will come to me just for being my organic self. I think for this to be my last outfit of 2023 and the first of 2024, the tone has been set.
