Spring is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe, but instead of buying a bunch of new clothes, I decided to create thrifted spring outfits using pieces that are affordable and easy to find at your local thrift store.

For this challenge, I picked up five simple thrifted pieces… the kind of items you’ll see almost every time you go thrifting or can easily fin shopping; and used them to create 12 stylish spring outfits. The goal? To show how a few good finds can turn into multiple real outfits when you mix them with pieces you already have in your closet.
Because the truth is, building great outfits isn’t about constantly buying more clothes. It’s about styling smarter and getting creative with what you already own. So if you’ve ever wondered how to thrift with intention or how to turn a few thrift finds into multiple looks, keep reading to see the 5 pieces I found and the 12 thrifted spring outfits we created with them.

1. Men’s Soccer Jersey (oversized)
When I found this oversized men’s soccer jersey in red and royal blue, I already knew it had potential. Because of the extra length and relaxed fit, it gave me a lot of room to play with proportions and styling. Here are three completely different ways I wore it for spring.
Look 1: The Jersey Mini Dress
Because the jersey is so oversized, I was able to wear it as a mini dress. To balance the sporty vibe, I layered it with a wardrobe essential– an oversized black blazer. The blazer instantly pulls the look together and gives it that effortless “model off duty” energy.

For accessories, I kept things playful with a logo baseball cap and yellow-tinted sunglasses. On the feet, I went with my black Adidas Sambas, and finished the look with a small top-handle bag to keep everything polished but still casual.
Look 2: Sporty Meets Statement
Next, I brought out the camo shorts, because it’s tiiiime. I did a half tuck with the jersey to create a little shape and paired it again with the baseball cap and yellow-tinted sunglasses to keep that sporty feel.

To elevate the outfit, I added my go-to black furry statement handbag and finished the look with black studded kitten heels. This mix of casual and glam is one of my favorite styling tricks.
Look 3: Layered and Unexpected
For the third look, I styled the jersey with a grey tailored skort that I picked up during our $100 gift card shopping spree. To add a little dimension, I layered it over an oversized white button-down shirt.

For shoes, I leaned into a little personality and wore my cow print mules that I’ve been obsessed with lately. I finished the outfit with the same baseball cap and my furry statement bag to tie the whole look together.
And just like that, we already have three thrifted spring outfits from one oversized jersey. That’s the beauty of thrifting with intention – one good piece can turn into multiple looks when you start mixing it with the staples already sitting in your closet.
Next up is a piece that instantly caught my eye while thrifting and honestly felt perfect for spring.
2. Faux Suede Fringe Mini Skirt
When I spotted this beige faux suede fringe mini skirt, I knew it had to come home with me. The color is the perfect neutral, which makes it easy to style with pieces you probably already own, and the fringe adds just enough movement and personality to make an outfit feel interesting. Here’s how I styled it.
Look 4: Classic Utility with a Little Edge
For this look, I paired the skirt with my timeless camo jacket. Instead of buttoning it all the way up, I only closed the two buttons in the middle, which created a more fitted look while still leaving the top and bottom open for shape.

I kept the same logo baseball cap and yellow-tinted sunglasses from the previous outfits to tie everything together. For shoes, I went with a knee-high pair of moto boots, which added a little edge to the look. I finished it off with the same mini top-handle bag for a polished touch.
Look 5: Oversized Layers Done Right
For the next look, I leaned into one of my favorite wardrobe essentials: the oversized white button-down shirt. I tucked in one side of the shirt to give the outfit a little shape while still keeping that relaxed feel.

Then I grabbed my oversized thrifted denim jacket and threw it on top for layering. To finish the look, I carried a beige quilted crossbody bag with gold hardware, which kept everything neutral and cohesive.
At this point, we’re already stacking up thrifted spring outfits using just a couple of pieces. But the next item might be my favorite because before we even start styling it, we’re doing a quick thrift flip to make it spring-ready.
Look 6: Statement with a Twist
For this look, I styled the skirt with today’s oversized denim jacket, but instead of wearing it the traditional way, I did a simple crossover hack- which instantly turned it into more of a top than a jacket.
To add a little personality, I tied a red bandana scarf around my neck, which pulled in a pop of color and gave the look some character.

For accessories, I went with my beige quilted handbag with gold hardware, and for shoes, I finished it off with a simple pair of red cowboy boots- the perfect statement to bring the whole outfit together.
3. Oversized Sweatshirt
This piece started as an oversized heather gray sweatshirt with “California” written in dark green across the chest. Cute, but a little heavy for spring as-is.
So before styling it, I did a quick hack; I cut the bottom half off to create a boxy cropped sweatshirt. Instantly lighter, instantly cooler, and perfect for layering this season. Here’s how I styled it.
Look 7: Sporty Street Style
First, I paired the cropped sweatshirt with my balloon pants- remember these? Yes, we wear the clothes around here.
To add some shape, I used a little hack with my thrifted denim jacket. I wrapped it around my waist and secured it by buttoning the bottom two to three buttons and scrunching it, which creates a cool layered effect. If you want to see exactly how to do it, I shared the full hack on my YouTube channel- you can watch it here.

For accessories, I added a little print with my leopard scarf baseball combo hat, slipped on my Nike Dunk Vintage Green sneakers, and finished the look with my everyday bag-the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 with charms.
Look 8: Tailored with Personality
For the next outfit, I went back to one of my favorite wardrobe staples- khaki trousers. These are a wide-leg menswear pair with double pleats, which instantly elevate the cropped sweatshirt.

I paired the look with my cow print animal heels and carried the same mini top-handle bag for a polished finish. To complete the outfit, I simply draped the denim jacket over my shoulders, which gives it that effortless editorial feel.
Look 9: Casual Layers with a Little Print
For the final look with this sweatshirt, I went right back to my camo shorts- because clearly we’re getting our money’s worth out of them.
I layered my oversized blue and white striped button-down shirt underneath the cropped sweatshirt so the collar and hem peek out. That layering trick instantly adds dimension. I kept the cow print heels going for a little personality and finished the look with a thrifted green cylinder-style bag.

By now you can probably see the pattern- when you start with versatile pieces, it becomes really easy to build multiple thrifted spring outfits just by mixing them with staples already in your closet.
4. Cropped Hooded Windbreaker
Next up is this bubblegum pink cropped hooded windbreaker, and I immediately loved it because it’s fitted with elastic at the waist, which gives me the option to create a little bubble hem. Between the cropped cut and the shape, it’s the perfect lightweight jacket for spring. Here’s how I styled it.
Look 10: Sporty, Easy, and Put Together
For this look, I paired the windbreaker with my white bubble hem dress- one of those easy throw-on pieces that always works.
I layered the pink cropped windbreaker right on top to add structure and a little color, then kept it casual with my cow print Adidas Sambas. To finish it off, I added a denim baseball cap and my everyday go-to, the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 with charms.

This is one of those outfits that looks styled, but feels effortless.
Look 11: Off-Duty Casual
For the next look, I leaned all the way into comfort and grabbed a pair of heather gray oversized barrel-leg sweatpants. I rolled them slightly at the waist to adjust the fit and paired them again with the grey sports bra and the pink windbreaker.

For shoes, I went with a classic dad sneaker moment-an all-gray pair of New Balance sneakers 2002r. I kept the Speedy 30 as my all-around bag to finish the look.
Look 12: Sporty and Playful
For the final outfit, I styled the jacket with a khaki tennis skirt, keeping the same white tank top layered underneath.

I went right back to my cow print Adidas Sambas, which work perfectly here because they’re lined with pink, tying into the jacket. To finish the outfit, I added a beige baseball cap and carried my beige quilted bag with gold hardware.
5. Oversized Denim Jacket
Now technically the last thrifted piece in this haul is the oversized men’s denim jacket, but instead of building new outfits around it, I used it the way a great denim jacket is meant to be used- as the finishing touch that pulls an outfit together.
You already saw it pop up in a few of the looks:
- Look 5, where it was worn as a layering piece to make the look more elevated casual
- Look 6, where it was wrapped around the waist for that styling hack
- Look 7, where it was draped over the shoulders to elevate the outfit
That’s the beauty of a good thrifted denim jacket. It’s one of those pieces that doesn’t always need to be the star of the outfit- it just makes everything else look better.
And that’s exactly why it’s one of my favorite thrift store finds.
Final Thoughts
And just like that, we created 11 thrifted spring outfits using only 5 thrifted pieces. That’s the beauty of thrifting with intention- when you focus on versatile items, a few good finds can turn into multiple outfits just by mixing them with the staples you already have in your closet.
The goal isn’t to constantly buy more clothes. It’s to style smarter, get creative, and actually wear the pieces you already own.
So the next time you’re at the thrift store, keep an eye out for pieces like these- oversized tops, statement skirts, lightweight jackets, and classic layering pieces. With a little creativity, they can easily become the foundation for your own thrifted spring outfits.
