Let’s take a trip to Hawaii, or in this case Aloha Waffle Bar. A unique ice cream, coffee, bubble waffles, boba and tiki tea bar Hawaiian experience. I bet you didn’t know you needed all that, right? You do and this is your go to.
It’s that one place you hear about over and over again and pass over, until one day you’re like… wait, what about this place again? You finally decide to go and discover it’s amazing as stated. Yeah.. this is that place. Hopefully this post will convince you to give this spot a try. Keep reading for what to expect, all about the location, and everything I personally tried.
Inside Aloha Waffle Bar
Aloha is probably one of the most slept on places in town, not because it’s not good but the location will throw you off. Located at the River City Marketplace near the Jacksonville International Airport at 725 Skymarks Dr #5, Jacksonville, FL 32218. People are so used to all the hotspots being a the St Johns Town Center, it’s very easy for a place like this to be overlooked. It’s time for this to change.
Aloha Waffle Bar hands down has a Hawaiian Tiki Bar ambience. When you walk in the staff shouts ‘ALOHA’ giving you the tiki tropical vibe as soon as you cross the door’s threshold. We are talking palm trees, bright colors, and surfboards displayed all with a modern industrial tone. This is a family gathering spot complete with interactive games and a nice patio for outdoor dining in front of a lake. A total hidden gem in plain sight.
As far as food, they specialize in bubble waffles, tea, and boba. Here, you’re able to get breakfast sandwiches, ice cream cones, and lunch specialties you guessed all made with this heavenly waffle.
Long story short if you want a heart breakfast, and fast casual lunch, drinks and coffee galore, or a heavenly ice cream creation Aloha is the place. Keep in mind everything is made with fresh ingredients such and fruit and handsome deli sliced meat. Boba is BIG here, if you’re a Boba head… the tiki tea bar is going to be your domain. You can do a create your own option or try their specialteas blends. Options here people.
What I Ate At Aloha
I stopped in for this trip solely to indulge in the sweets. Being new to this place I was taken aback by the large number of options on the menu and they have a seasonal selection with off menu items available. There’s something for everyone on this menu. I was pleasantly surprised. Here’s everything I tried
- Da Flo Ridian – Vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, cookie butter and strawberry topping with whip cream (9.5 out of 10)
- Kauai Punch (tea) (8.5 out of 10)
- Hawaiian POG – passion fruit, orange, and guava (9 out of 10)
With the waffles you can have them served flat or wrapped. I chose flat simply because I seemed to be less messy and more shareable for my daughter and I. The boba teas were simply delicious and the fruit combination were impeccable.
The only negative thing I could say about Aloha Waffle bar based on my visit was the price. I spent about 36.00 for a waffle and two drinks. Please keep this in mind especially if going with a large party.
Being outside in the evening Florida heat with a lake and ducks as a backdrop was the perfect setup to enjoy our sweet delights. Aloha waffle bar is the perfect spot to bring your family or self for a cool out experience. I highly recommend you give this place a try. In fact, I can’t wait to return to try more teas!
The biggest question you have to ask yourself when going… SWEET OR SAVORY? 🙂
